Medicare’s Annual Open Enrollment Period (AEP) is your once-a-year opportunity to review and change your Medicare health and prescription drug coverage for the coming year. For 2026 coverage, you’ll want to compare plan costs, formularies, provider networks, and extra benefits — plan rules and costs can change year to year. Make an informed choice before the enrollment window closes.
Key dates (mark your calendar)
- Compare plans: starts October 1, 2025 (Medicare plan materials begin arriving).
- Annual Open Enrollment Period (AEP): October 15 – December 7, 2025. Changes you make during AEP take effect January 1, 2026.
- Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment (if you’re already in MA): January 1 – March 31 (for limited MA switching).
